Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Palo Pinto General
Hospital plays a critical role in delivering specialized,
high-quality care to emergency patients. This position requires the
nurse to continuously monitor patient conditions, administer
complex treatments, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary
teams to develop and implement treatment plans. The RN-ER is
responsible for responding swiftly to emergencies, utilizing
advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to stabilize
patients and improve outcomes. This role demands a compassionate
approach to patient and family support, ensuring clear
communication and emotional reassurance during challenging times.
Ultimately, the RN-ER contributes significantly to the hospital’s
mission of providing exceptional healthcare services within a
supportive and professional environment. Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of
Texas. Graduate of a certified nursing program. Experience with
electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably Meditech Basic
Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
certifications and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and patient safety
programs. Ability to work in a fast -paced environment under
stressful situations Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years
of experience working in an Emergency department Certification in
Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN) and or Trauma Nurse Core Course
(TNCC) . Additional certifications such as Emergency Nurse
Pediatric Course (ENPC) Demonstrated leadership or preceptorship
experience within an ER environment. Responsibilities: Provide
comprehensive nursing care to patients with emergency needs.
Monitors vital signs, administering medications, and managing
life-support processes using specialized equipment. Manages
patients with medical diagnoses (rule out myocardial infarction,
diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, gastrointestinal
bleed, etc.) including stating pathophysiology for specific
diagnosis. Documenting nursing interventions on the emergency
department form, stating signs and symptoms of complications for
diagnosis and notifying physician of any changes in condition in a
timely manner. Performs triage on multiple patients, evaluates and
prioritizes them according. Provides psychosocial care to the
patients and family. Assess patient conditions continuously and
document changes accurately to inform treatment decisions and care
planning. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and
other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and
implement prescribed interventions. Respond promptly to medical
emergencies, performing advanced life support procedures as
necessary. Educate patients and their families about diagnoses,
treatment plans, and post-discharge care to promote understanding
and compliance. Implements and develops discharge instructions
Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and
hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety. Participate
in ongoing professional development and training to stay current
with ER best practices and technological advancements. Skills: The
RN-ER utilizes advanced clinical skills daily to assess and manage
complex emergency patient conditions, ensuring timely and effective
interventions. Strong critical thinking and decision-making
abilities are essential for interpreting diagnostic data and
responding to rapidly changing situations. Effective communication
skills facilitate collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and
provide clear, compassionate information to patients and families.
Proficiency with ER technology and electronic health records
supports accurate documentation and enhances care coordination.
Additionally, continuous learning and adaptability enable the nurse
to integrate new evidence-based practices and maintain high
standards of patient care. Tis is a day position. Rotating Days.
Works schedule is 6:45 AM-6:45 PM. This is a budgeted position at
,90 FTE which is eligible for overtime and shift differential, as
applicable. Benefits eligible.
