passion.Primary PurposeThe Transition-to-Practice (TTP) Nurse
Residency supervisor is a professional nursing leader who oversees
and manages all aspects of the comprehensive program(s) for
transitioning new graduate registered nurses (RNs) from the
academia into the professional work environment, from a novice to a
competent professional RN. Position is responsible for the
planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the TTP
Program including programmatic guidance for the post-graduate
nurse, preceptor, mentor and other TTP program support team
members.Education- Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(BSN).- Preferred Master of Science in Nursing.Experience* Must
have four (4+) years of clinical nursing experience, including one
(1) year of nursing education experience and two (2) years of
recent work in clinical specialty Transition to Practice
area.Certification/Registration/Licensure- Must have current, valid
RN license or temporary RN license with the Texas Board of Nursing;
or, valid Compact RN license.- Must have current healthcare
provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:

- American Heart Association
- American Red Cross Rescuer
- Military Training Network- Must be certified as a CPR
Instructor or obtain within six months of employment/placement in
classification.Skills or Special Abilities
- Must have experience in the education of students and nurse
educators and has the ability to utilize approaches to adults as
learners based on recognition of the individual's autonomy and
self-direction, life experiences, readiness to learn and
problem-orientation to learn.
- Must demonstrate and maintain knowledge related to clinical
area and Nursing Education.
- Must be a role model in demonstrating excellence in practice,
serves as a clinical mentor/preceptor for clinical and
administrative staff, consults/collaborates in patience care and
research, and educates in both formal and informal situations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills,
presentation skills, interpersonal skills and professional
standards.
- Must have superior writing skills to compose curriculum,
including but not limited to course outlines, objectives and
presentations.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of teaching/learning theories and
application of multiple learning methodologies.
- Must have ability to create and maintain organized,
confidential and professionally written educational files
consistent with departmental and organizational processes
- Must be able to establish effective, respectful and collegial
working relationships with all internal and external customers
including but not limited to peer group, leadership, patients,
physicians, employees, students volunteers and vendors.
- Demonstrates proficiency in use of technology as applicable to
role.Responsibilities
- Develops local content and utilizes national resources in
building the program curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs
of the post-graduate RN programs. S/he incorporates input from
employee preceptors and mentors encouraging the use of varied and
creative teaching methods. Participant needs assessments and
competencies are assessed periodically.
- Implements ongoing evaluations of programs to determine
achievement of education outcomes.
- Develops, tracks, and submits program outcome/evaluation data
and fiscal reports as needed for local and national performance
monitors.
- Maintains records of educational activities in accordance with
institutional, departmental, and regulatory standards.
- Incorporates knowledge of teaching/learning theory, effective
teaching strategies, use of audio-visual aids, and learning
evaluation strategies when coordinating educational activities or
serving as a speaker to ensure programs achieve their goals.Job
Accountabilities
- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer
satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and
monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of
the department and Parkland.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and
trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading
professional journals, actively participating in professional
organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure.
Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies,
laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective
internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable
laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and
private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure
